Rehabilitation Specialist: Mr Christopher Perry
What is Rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation is the specialised healthcare aiming to optimise patient function and well-being and to help patients integrate back into their chosen lifestyle activities whether at work, home or leisure. Typically, this process helps people gain greater independence after illness, injury and disease. Rehabilitation should focus on functional and lifestyle restrictions based on the patient’s own goals for functional improvement.
Why Rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation plays a critical role in healing, repair and recovery in a wide range of injuries, illnesses and conditions:
- Improving skills and activities in daily living in stroke, and neurogeriatric conditions (Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis)
- Strengthening bones and muscles with people following any orthopaedic surgery (total hip replacement, total knee replacement, shoulder surgery)
- Improving biomechanical loading and manual handling following the recovery of healing of a non-specific lower back pain
- and many more
Each plan that is performed is individually specified for their needs and goals.
